Michaela Community School are looking for support in setting up a school in the Wembley area of Brent, to open in September 2014.

Great progress has already been made with their ethos and vision agreed for the school. Michaela Community School will take a traditional approach with a focus on discipline and pupils’ learning, attainment and success. Plans are in place for the curriculum, school day and extracurricular aspects too.

We are currently looking for parents, teachers and community members who are interested in being involved in the creation of the school. Those interested will be invited to join the steering group and become School Ambassadors to help spread the word and shape this new school.

Dr Tony Sewell, Governor of Enterprise said: “The steering group is calling for local parents and interested parties to show their support and let us know what they want and need from a new school. It’s their support that will make this vision become a reality.”

Tony added: “We would also like to hear from those who have a professional background in areas such as finance, education, ICT, business and human resources. It is important that the school is reflective of this locality so, where possible, we would like to access the expertise needed to make this school a reality from this within the area.”

Michaela Community School will be a mixed community secondary school for pupils aged 11-18 of all backgrounds offering excellent, traditional education. It will also include a longer school day which will incorporate extracurricular activities and a competitive environment, both in academic and sporting endeavours.

What are Free Schools?

11 Mar 2013, Posted by website administrator in Latest News

Free Schools are non-profit, independent, state-funded schools. They have the power to set their own curriculum, teaching hours and term times and are funded by the Government and are free from local authority control. They will also be subject to Ofsted inspections.

The uniting factor for all Free Schools is that they are being set up in response to real demand within a local area for a greater variety of schools, they meet rigorous standards and they are all committed to providing young people with the best possible chance to succeed.
