Homework

Reading
Your child should read for at least 30 minutes each evening. After finishing a book, they must take a test on Accelerated Reader to make sure that they were reading it properly and that it was the right level for them.
Go to: Ren Learn Accelerated Reader

Hegarty Maths
Hegarty Maths is an online maths programme that has videos and questions on every maths topic for Y7-11. You can check what your child has been doing and how long they have spent on Hegarty in the “My Scores” tab found in the top right corner when logged in. The aim is to get as many topics at 100% as possible. Regularly check the ‘donut’ on their homepage to see how well they are doing.

Daily Quizzes
Please quiz your child in preparation for their quiz the following day. It should take 10 to 15 minutes.

Essays
Your child should put a lot of effort into their essays. If they spend an hour planning, writing and editing, it will be a far better essay than having spent 15 minutes.

Science
From Year 9 pupils are given access to My GCSE Science, an online resource offering video tutorials, exam-style questions and revision resources.

French
Thisislanguage is an excellent resource for pupils to practise their listening comprehension, and to complete grammar exercises and build vocabulary in French. All pupils have access for their own independent work, and from Y9 onwards pupils are set weekly homework on the site.

Holiday Homework

Over every term and half-term break, pupils will receive holiday homework.  Before all holidays, a letter and email will be sent to families detailing the holiday homework expectations for their child. Failure to complete holiday homework will result in a Saturday detention.
